This is one of the foster kids, a bit bigger than he was when I found him. Yes, they’re still here. I found a spot to release them, but not all of them have moulted yet, so I’ll give them a few more days. This guy has moulted, and now you can see the two black "buds" where his wings will grow. His body is starting to flatten out as well. They still snuggle together under a leaf every night. <3

Large milkweed bug nymph. Big deal, right? Okay, how about if I tell you I found him…in my kitchen.
If you remember my baby bugs, then you might recognise this one. I was never sure whether I’d brought in eight or nine because they didn’t like to be exposed, and when I’d lift a leaf to count, they’d all start moving. I had been keeping them on the honeyvine pod where I’d found them, but had also brought in a couple of extra pods, just in case. When I released the "kids" a couple of weeks ago (found some honeyvine for them), I thought I had them all, but apparently, I missed one. I was going to throw away the extra pods, but never got around to it. Good thing I didn’t, or I would’ve thrown away this little guy, too.
This is one of the last nymph stages before he’ll become a winged adult, and tomorrow, I’ll take him to the same spot where I released his siblings. I did laugh, though, because he’d managed to go unnoticed for two full weeks! I guess some kids can’t wait to get out of the house…and others like to stick around a little longer.

Wash up. ?Sap from the plant causes the rash, so wash the affected area and clothing thoroughly,? Dr. Silver said.
Apply a topical steroid cream to soothe the itch. ?You can also get an oral steroid from your doctor for more severe cases,? he said.
If pain or swelling occurs after contact with a poisonous plant or bee sting, or the irritation will not go away, see your doctor.
Dislodge the stinger containing the venom sack as soon as possible to reduce pain and inflammation.
Apply ice to ease the swelling and a topical cream. Though most people aren?t allergic to bee stings, ?allergy shots are available to reduce or eliminate the allergy if necessary,? Dr. Silver said.
